Unusual Bus Stop
The driver of the Q35 lost
control and drove the bus onto
the sidewalk at Beach 116th
Street and Newport Avenue
last Thursday, December 8,
shortly before noon. The MTA
reported that no one was in-
jured and that drivers are test-
ed after such incidents. The
matter is still under review.

Get ready to apply. Dead-
lines for New York City Coun-
cil Discretionary funding for
the 2018 Fiscal Year are com-
ing up.
Councilman Donovan Rich-
ards recently released infor-
mation on several upcoming
sources of city funding for
community organizations.
These include:
-City Council Expense: Ap-
plication due by February 21,
2017, 5 p.m. All applications
will be made available on-
line on January 3, 2017. The
City Council Expense Ap-
plication can be filled out at
http://council.nyc.gov/html/
budget/application.shtml.
The Councilman notes that
“by submitting your discre-
tionary application by Febru-
ary 3, 2017, my office will have
time to address any problems
that may come up before the
final deadline.”
-Cultural
Development
Fund (CDF): Application due
by February 6, 2017. All cul-
tural organizations receiving
awards through the Depart-
ment of Cultural Affairs are
required to complete this ap-
plication or they will be inel-
igible to get their award. Ap-
plications will be available
on January 5, 2017 at https://
www.nyc . gov/por tal /s i te/
DCLASite.
-City Council Capital Fund-
ing: Application due March
25, 2017, 5 p.m. Applications
will be available by December
20 at http://www.nyc.gov/
