Photo and story
by KatieMcFadden
The “blizzard” on Tuesday
turned out to be pretty under-
whelming compared to meteor-
ologists forecasts, but itmayhave
been powerful enough to knock
down a fewhomes that were be-
ingbuilt inFar Rockaway.
On the morning of Tuesday,
March 14, two houses, about two

the corner of Jarvis Avenue and
Beach 7th Street. The Rockaway
Nassau Safety Patrol was among
the first to respond to the scene,
followed by the FDNY and repre-
sentatives from the NYC Depart-

were under construction, no one
was living in them and no crews
were working on the homes dur-

A sign on the construction
site said the buildings were
part of a project including 10
luxury residential homes being
constructed by the Jarvis Asso-
ciation, based in Valley Stream.
The sign said the anticipated
completion for the project was
summer 2015. It is not clear
how long the structure was sit-
ting idle.
