We got this scoop from local Ed Gormley: On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., NYPD and FDNY units responded to a report of a trapped cat under the Boardwalk at Beach 121st Street. While the police provided crowd control, the firefighters removed the boards and entered the area under the promenade in an attempt to rescue the animal. Unfortunately, after leading the rescuers on a merry chase, the cat escaped the responders and retreated further under the structure where no one could follow. The firemen then dug a hole to provide egress if the cat chose to leave. Looks like the Parks Department has succeeded in building a multi-million dollar cat trap/hotel.
