Temple Beth-El of Rockaway Park and the First Congregational Church in Rockaway Beach are joining together this year for an interfaith service on Thanksgiving Day. Starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 24, all are invited for a celebration of the holiday at Temple Beth-El at 201 Beach 121st Street.
Participating will be Temple Congregation President Allan Goldberg, Temple Committee Chairpersons Esther and Al Rosenthal, Cantor Jeffrey Wolk, Rockaway Rotary Club President John Napolitano, and Reverend Joseph Mendlin.
Services will be followed by a collation or light holiday meal in the temple ballroom afterward.
A spokesperson noted, “For the past 88 years, Temple Beth-El of Rockaway Park and the First Congregational Church have been taking part in a joint interfaith Thanksgiving morning service. It was continued when the late Rabbi Blaine took the pulpit in our Temple and is now being continued by the officers of our synagogue and the Church. This year it will be held at Temple Beth-El.”
In the true spirit of the season, they are welcoming those of all faiths and walks of life to come together and give thanks.
