The Rockapulco Gold Music fest, in the parking lot at 114-04 Beach Channel Drive, is Saturday. It’s in a tent so weather won’t be an issue, but the forecast calls for sun. It’s a launch party for the new Rockaway beer and some of Rockaway’s best musical talent will rock the tent from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. Get your discount tickets online for $30 at RockapulcoRun.com or pay $40 at the door. Should be fun!

Well, the Rockaway St. Patrick’s Parade won’t be as colorful. Ms. Colombia, who was known for his multi-colored beards and floral dresses was found dead in the water off Beach 149th Street. He was often seen with his poodle (who sometimes had his white hair colored with food coloring) and sometimes he’d have a parrot on his head. Quite a character. He was a regular at the parade (and many other parades throughout the city). He loved the beach and could be spotted, even in the winter, walking along the shore. After his poodle, his steady companion, died a couple years back, Ms. Colombia went into mourning and was no longer (or rarely) seen in drag. His name was Oswaldo Gomez and New York won’t be the same.

David Selig, of Rockaway Taco fame, has turned an old garage into a movie theater, an ideal spot for The Rockaway Film Fest which will kick off on Thursday, October 18 and run through October 21. There will be lots of different films, including some shot by Rockaway residents. The cinematic treat is at 323 Beach 74th Street. Check your bank accounts for unusual activity. We’ve heard of several people who mailed checks by regular mail, only to have them stolen somewhere along the way. The stolen checks are used to open an account and then other funds are vulnerable to theft.
