It’s all everyone is talking about. St. John’s Hospital in Far Rockaway announced that one of its patients was diagnosed with the Coronavirus last Saturday.  The patient, an Uber driver, was put in isolation. Here's hoping for a fast recovery for him and for a better overall handle on the situation.

Many of you have watched the YouTube clips of Kevin Boyle and Rick Horan’s bike ride a few weeks back from South Carolina to Florida. The full version is now up online. (Search: “Two Bikes and a ball” on YouTube or Google). After 600 miles, and now prepping for another trip, Boyle took his bike into Paul’s Bike Shop. Paul showed him the back tire which had a full nail through it but it wasn’t flat. Boyle emailed the company, Schwalbe Tires, to compliment them on their fine product. And he included a link to the YouTube video. A spokesman for the company responded offering Kevin half off on any future purchases and then asked (after seeing the video), “Is Rick really that bad?” He was referring to Rick’s, er, basketball skills on display in the video.  See for yourself!

Big thanks go to Hank Iori and John Signorelli of the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association for pressing NYC Parks to remove the old wooden jetties aka “death sticks” up and down the beach.  Parks asked the Army Corps to remove those hazards through a betterment agreement under the upcoming groin installation/redesign project.  In other words, the  City will fund the work, and the Army Corps will take over.

After running a survey, a public relations firm claimed that 38% of beer drinking Americans would not purchase Corona beer, under any circumstance. It does seem to be a most unfortunate brand name these days, but the findings were refuted by Constellation, Corona's parent company. They claim sales are up 5% in  the past few weeks.

Rockaway’s Congressman, Greg Meeks, endorsed Michael Bloomberg for President. He announced his support for Joe Biden once Bloomberg dropped out. Meeks is at odds with Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) who is a staunch Bernie Sanders supporter. Meeks has said that he would be most vulnerable to a Democrat from the left in a primary. He may soon find out how vulnerable he is. Shan Chowdhury is making the rounds collecting signatures for a June 23 primary. He drew a big crowd to the Rockaway Brewing Company last weekend.
