It’s the last month of 2020.

With the pandemic overhanging so much, please try to shop locally during the holidays. Gift certificates are a great way to help businesses as they do what they can until normalcy returns.

We shared a video of sharks feasting on bunker fish off the beach in Belle Harbor and it was quite the online sensation. We added some “scary” music to it and got comments from people saying they hope amnesia kicks in next summer when they want to go in the water. They said they’d like to forget about the wildlife in the ocean.

Messed with you again. Two weeks ago, the Word Search was screwed up. Last week we screwed up “Spot the Difference” and had the same picture. So, those of you still staring at the picture, you can stop now. Sorry! We double checked this week: both puzzles look good. Tic-Tac-Toe would’ve been so much easier.

Rockaway Mermaid Brigade has put a toy drop-off box at Whits End on Beach 97th and RBB. All gifts will go the Ronald McDonald House. The box will be there until December 11. The Mermaids are also busy making plans for next year’s parade. Big and fun changes are in the works. The prom, usually held in February, will be virtual. Stay tuned.

The absentee ballot remains absent. Kevin Boyle mailed his ballot on September 30. As of December 2, the ballot remains at the Post Office. Two months! We look forward to reading Governor Cuomo’s book about how he fixed the Board of Elections in New York.

It’s great news that St. John’s Hospital will be offering a wide variety of services and medical care at the Rockaway Medical Arts Complex on Beach 105th Street. West enders will have good choices nearby.

That was some wind on Monday. The Marine Parkway Bridge was closed in both directions for a little while and the new skateboard park off the boardwalk got a sheen of sand that blew off the beach. The sand landed elsewhere and gave another reminder that the jetties can’t be installed soon enough.
