Put Christmas Back in Christmas

Dear Editor:

Like my fellow Marine from Broad Channel, Peter Mahon, I too have become greatly disturbed, dismayed, outraged and upset over the complete absence of the word,  "Christmas," and/or the term, "Merry Christmas" from today's lexicon! Whether omitted from secular advertising, event announcements or sometimes even religious Christian goods and announcements, it is truly outrageous. The PC crowd ties themselves into knots to avoid at any cost the use of the verboten word, "Christmas." Some examples, for which a definition would be appreciated: “a holiday tree, holiday lights, holiday songs, holiday treats, holiday show, etc.,etc.,ad nauseaum." At the same time, it is not only perfectly acceptable but strongly encouraged to wish one a Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanzaa, etc., for which I certainly have no objection as long as “Christmas" would receive an equal amount of consideration and usage. Merry Christmas To All!

Amazon Railway

Dear Editor:

Amazon announced that it is setting up headquarters in Queens. There is a lot of noise about all the tax giveaways and rightly so. But what about the traffic increase? If you drive along Woodhaven Boulevard you know what I’m talking about. Queens is home to the worst airport in the world, LaGuardia. And it has the worst public transit in the city. It’s a pipe dream, but with Amazon there is more reason than ever to reopen the Rockaway branch line. Amazon should be forced to pay to get the tracks back on track.
