Quite  Taxing

We Get Email

Dear Editor:

An open letter to our neighbors and representatives.

I receive an estimated property tax assessment from the City of New York for my property located in Broad Channel. This estimate represents a 65% increase from last year. Is there no limit to the percentage the City of New York can raise my taxes? This seems very unfair. What will the increase be next year? 75%? 85%? The home that sat on this property was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy and never rebuilt. An increase like this has us wondering if it is worth staying here. This tax increase can’t be right and should not be forced on anyone.
