I am officially endorsing and calling upon all registered Democrats in the 23 A.D. Part B to cast their vote for Jeanette Marie Garramone for Democratic District Leader (Female).
Everyone is allowed to cast their vote by absentee ballot in this election. You may vote early or at your usual polling place on June 23.
Jeanette and her family have lived in the Rockaway community for 14 years. She has been involved in seeking smaller class sizes and better education for all of our children. After hurricane Sandy, she spoke up for resiliency and protection. Jeanette spent many long days and evenings at local events, meeting and rallies passionately pleading for the installation of jetties and a new boardwalk.
Jeanette spoke up at meetings to oppose the Williams pipeline. She fought to bring back the Rockaway Ferry and helped to successfully coordinate against the conversion of the Playland Motel to a homeless shelter. She also joined the fight to prevent opening a homeless shelter on Beach 101 Street.
Since the coronavirus pandemic hit us, Jeanette has been a Guardian Angel, coordinating volunteers and personally delivering meals to Seniors, Disabled and those in need. She helped to convince the Department of Education to open P.S. 317 on Beach 110th Street for Grab and Go meals. Recently we arranged a food delivery for JASA Senior Center at St. Francis and St. Camillus and The Golden Age Clubs.
Jeanette is a community activist not a politician. We work well together which is important for unity in the community and district. However, make no mistake, she is her own person and brings integrity, intelligence and charisma to our local leadership. She listens with compassion to the community needs. She is down to earth and has no arrogance.
