Fight The Fear

Be Well Be Happy

Dear fellow humans. Please believe in the intelligence of the body. Believe in it! You will get through this. Your body is strong enough to handle the invader.  Yes, this is really serious stuff, but do not dwell and obsess about it. Trust we will get through this and take the proper precautions to protect ourselves.

I believe in the power of positive thinking. Our immune systems is like positive thinking. We have the power to change the course of our destiny based on our thoughts. You are what you think. Make a conscious decision to be healthy. Don’t play with fire. Be clean from the inside to the outside. Strengthen your immune system with fresh vegetables and herbs.

Fear is worse than the disease. “Fear is the cheapest room in the house. I’d like to see you in better living conditions.” - Hafiz. We are all fearful and that’s ok, what is not ok is to live in fear. If you feel isolated, know that we are all here for you. Sit quietly, meditate, pray, meditate, pray. And then do it again. Don’t contract, instead expand and be open. Trust me, it works to sit quietly and breathe.

My heart goes out to those who are sick or need to be quarantined to protect themselves and others. We must do our best to support and help one another. First Responders, you are the heroes in this crisis. We applaud and thank you for your selfless service. Please be careful and take the necessary precautions to keep yourself safe.

How do you keep your peace of mind in a world turned upside down? You slow down and take a few deep breaths. You use a mantra or prayer and repeat it often. You sit with your emotions and then let it go. Do not attach to the hysteria. Go outside for a walk if you are healthy. Know that everything is going to be ok. We need to ride out the storm and stay positive. No blaming, no fighting, no judgment.

In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, he gives us four keys to happiness. When you use these tools, you will always have peace. I will share the magic keys. If you are a yoga teacher you already have them in your heart and know them well. Share them with your students. Teach them to root down to the earth for support and strength.

  1. Be friendly. When you see a happy person, smile back and wish them well.
  2. Be Compassionate. For those who are miserable and unhappy, treat them with compassion and be a beacon of light for them. Let them know you are here for them.
  3. Be Happy for the virtuous. For those who are doing really well, be happy for them. They are blessed.
  4. Non-Attachment to evil. Do not judge those who are not doing good things. Detach from judgment and gossip.

“It matters that you care. It matters that you feel. It matters that you notice. It matters that life lives through you. Contentment is life living through you. Joy is life living through you. Satisfaction and strength are life living through you. DON’T BE AFRAID. DON’T BE AFRAID. LOVE, FEEL, LET LIFE TAKE YOU BY THE HAND. LET LIFE LIVE THROUGH YOU. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT YOU ALL. “ Roger Keyes
