Some beaches may be closed in Rockaway Beach, but there’s still plenty to do to have fun in the sun. NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, Queens Library, and the Friends of Rockaway Beach have teamed up to bring “Summer Fun at Rockaway Beach” at Beach 98th Street. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday though August 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all are welcome to have fun in the sun (or in the shade) in this new activity center. You’ll find lawn games, many custom-built by John Cori and Eddy Pastore, like shuffleboard, Connect Four, table tennis, volleyball and others. Plus there's a kid's play area and activity center, or you can even pick up a book from Queens Library.
