The season of thievin’ continues, but thanks to local NYPD officers, there are a few less grinches on the street. On Tuesday afternoon, December 11, neighbors were shocked to see about a dozen police cars respond to a location on Beach 126th Street and learn that arrests were made of people stealing packages from porches. The Rockaway Times reached out to the 100th Precinct for more information on the incident.
According to Community Affairs officer, Officer Daniel Smyth:
“On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at approximately 3:30 p.m., in the vicinity of Beach 127th Street, there was a 911 call made regarding package theft from the front of a residence. Subsequently, three males, ages ranging from 20-22, were arrested. Two of the three perpetrators were dressed as FedEx employees. They were charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Impersonation, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. The third perpetrator was following in a vehicle close by. He was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Driving with a suspended license. All three males are residents of Rockaway.”
