Forget those Monday blues because this Sunday, Thai Rock is serving up a special treat. Samantha Carlson and her jazz combo will be gracing the bayside restaurant with her ethereal voice singing classic standards from the 1920s through today, as well as jazz, big band, show-tunes, country, oldies, classical, opera, and pop. What better way to bid adieu to the weekend and embrace the workweek?

This one’s gonna be big, so we wanted to give you a heads up. The South Queens Ball is going to be a rockin’ evening of live music from Sasha Dobson, Wine With Sue, John Scarpulla, Hop City Hellcats, Indaculture and BMWA all under one roof at the Broad Channel American Legion Hall. This special event will be filmed for QPTV and broadcasted live on Rockaway Beach Broadcasting Company. Admission is $20.

IT’S BUGALOU TIME!

Folks — mark your calendars! This Saturday, time to get Bugalou for the ultimate Winter Dance Party. Be warned, the inside of St. Camillus Academy Auditorium will feel nothing like winter because with opening act, 3 Sheets to the Wind, the temperature will be plenty hot and feel like summer with the band’s funky mix of classic rock and soul. And with headliner, Lex Grey and the Urban Pioneers, as The Village Voice aptly stated, “Your a** will feel like it’s on the bar room floor.” A spirited performance is expected, and fun and energy will not be in short supply. Also, to make sure everyone is in the mood, there will be a Winter Party Beer Special with Bud, Bud Light, Lite, and Coors Light 2 for $5, and Rockapulco Gold $2. Urban Pioneers bassist and Rockaway resident Tim Farrell will do double-duty as he leads the night off with his other ensemble, 3 Sheets to the Wind, playing classic power trio rock to get everyone rolling. Tickets are $25, and along with the beer specials, makes for a night that meets any budget and zest for down home good music. So get your dancing shoes on and grab your best buds because a Rock-a-rific time is guaranteed for all!
