Learn About Property Tax Exemptions and Utility Bill Reduction

You might have a chance to save some money on your property taxes or utility bills, and Senator James Sanders’ office is here to help. On Friday, January 18, Sanders will be hosting part three of a four-part event series to provide his constituents with property tax exemptions and utility bill reduction assistance.

The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Batallion Pentecostal Assembly Inc., (454 Beach 67th Street) in Arverne. There will be several offices and agencies on hand to explain how you can save. The Department of Finance will be enrolling homeowners in the property tax exemption program (households save over $300). The Office of the NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli will offer unclaimed funds lookup services and the ability to register for refunds. The Department of Environmental Protection will assist with delinquent water bills and educate homeowners on how to conserve water. Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica will counsel and assist homeowners with lean sale and foreclosure issues. Margert Community Corporation will assist homeowners and tenants with application for conserving gas and heat in household (lowers utility bills), plus more.

As this is expected to be a popular event, everyone must RSVP by calling Senator Sanders’ office at 718-523-3069 or 718-327-7017.
