It’s about time! After several months of renovations, the Wise Clock is back at Riis Park and is as good as new.
The historic clock, believed to be built in the 1890s, has been an icon at Riis Park since it was installed on the boardwalk in 1941. It received even more recognition when it was featured in a Cracker Jack commercial in the ‘60s and ‘70s. However, after several years of wear and tear, it was time for a tune up. The clock was removed in October and underwent restoration at Scott Kreilick’s studio. On Wednesday, June 5, it was reinstalled on the Riis boardwalk. We’re guessing it’ll have the right time this time around.
