The Sunset Walk is Breezy Point's only cancer fundraising benefit which supports men, women and children currently battling cancer. All proceeds are used solely to help friends, neighbors and relatives get the aid they need. ROCKAWAY TIMES 4TH ANNUAL SANDCASTLE CONTEST

Sunday, August 4

11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The RT’s annual Sandcastle Contest is back! So head to Beach 117th and bring your creativity and grit to show off your sand-sculpting skills. All experience levels and ages welcome! Just be sure to bring your own sand tools and of course your imagination! Registration starts at 11 a.m. on the boardwalk. The contest starts at noon—SHARP! Contestants will have until 2 p.m. to finish their creation. You can enter as an individual or a group, but please keep groups to five people or less. Winners will be announced around 2:45/3 p.m. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in three different age categories: 8 and under, 9-15, and 16 and up. Prizes include trophies and gift certificates from local businesses. Participants won't go home empty-handed. There will be medals and other giveaways, as supplies last.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! This is your last chance to see Rockaway Theatre Company’s musical production, Newsies. This inspiring musical is based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899. When newspaper titan Joseph Pulitzer raised newspaper prices at the newsboys' expense, a rag-tag gang of newsies take action. Show dates: August 2, 3 and 4.
