Just in time for the school year to start, Sandpiper Playground is complete and open for the community to enjoy.
After several delays, the long-awaited Sandpiper Playground opened to the public on Thursday, August 22, and it wasn’t long before word spread and kids filled the park, utilizing the park’s brand-new elements like slides, climbing areas, water spray features, benches, and the old wave bus shelter. The $5.86 million project around Beach 107th and Shore Front Parkway was slated to be complete as the summer began in early June, but as all things go in the city, it took a little longer. However, after not having a playground since Hurricane Sandy, many in the area are just grateful that they can finally have a little fun on Shore Front Parkway again.
Sandpiper Playground is one of many Parks capital projects planned for areas adjacent to the boardwalk over the next couple years.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
