The Pickle People pop-up packed Connolly’s as locals gathered at the popular bar to pick up a pack of pickles and enjoy a mid-day piña colada.
The Long Island-based pickle company paid Rockaway a visit by pairing up with Connolly’s for a pop-up after confusion with the boardwalk craft fairs prevented the Pickle People from bringing their popular pickles to the peninsula. According to Pickle People owner Leeann Jacobian, the pop-up was a big hit.
“It was wonderful! Even though we advertised for noon, many came by 11:30 a.m. and we were all ready for them. The line grew way down the sidewalk, way past Connelly’s and people were really stocking up. By 2:30 we were pretty much sold out. We stayed until every last pickle was gone!” Jacobian said. “It’s no wonder Connolly’s is so loved within the community! They are such awesome people! What a crew!” Connolly’s got in on the fun by serving up sweet pickle piña coladas and pickle back shots during the pop-up.
Jacobian says they can’t wait to do it again next summer. “We were invited back again, and we look forward to it!” she said.
