The Marine Parkway Bridge

Drivers often wonder what’s holding up traffic.  Yes, we know, sometimes it feels like "then" is really now. These photos, courtesy of the wonderful OldRockawayPhotos.com curated by James Supple, show the Marine Parkway Bridge through its history. Opened in 1939, the bridge connects Brooklyn to Queens. Interesting tidbit: some member of the War Department wanted to build a tunnel instead so as not to impede maritime traffic. (So look at the bright side, you could be stuck in a tunnel instead!)
