A Socially Distance Musical Meditation


Music can bring people together, even while apart. On Saturday, August 22, the AEON Ensemble will be leading a socially distant music performance and musical meditation.

Rockaway resident Joanna Mieleszko has helped organize this two-part event that will take place by Kris Perry's new sculpture on Beach 98th Street and Shore Front Parkway. The first part, taking place at 2 p.m., will include a musical program that explores four centuries of gorgeous nature-oriented masterpieces for three voices and cello (think Bach’s Cello Suites to Thomas Morley’s Motets). The second will be at 7 p.m. with a musical a musical meditation session, featuring a meditative sound-bath. Each session is one hour long and social distancing will be encouraged throughout.

The AEON Ensemble is a contemporary classical music collective that creatives immersive, often multi-media concert experiences. Their goal is to make excellent quality new music that is engaging and accessible to everyone in location, price, and content.

The AEON Ensemble is pairing up with a few environmentally-oriented businesses and projects including Rockaway-based Hydrophonics NYC for this event. They also have a few partnerships brewing for future endeavors with organizations like Surfrider Foundation.

The event is entirely free to attend. However, donations will be accepted to split between the ensemble and one or 2twoRockaway-based community organizations such as Community Boathouse, RYTF, JBRPC, etc.
