A Successful Feast for Far Rock

On Thanksgiving Day, those from CT3Designs and the Far Rock Greek Council spent the afternoon giving back. Many volunteers made sure the 3rd Annual “Operation FEAST,” in collaboration with SkeePhiNY was a huge success.

On Thursday, November 26, this volunteer youth led organization came together at the Far Rockaway Plaza on Beach 21st Street to make sure displaced and less fortunate individuals and families in Far Rockaway had an opportunity to enjoy Thanksgiving

“We never know what someone is going through but being able to pay it forward is a beautiful thing and is something we can never forget. Something as simple as giving someone a hot plate of food and telling them ‘Happy Thanksgiving’ you may never know how far that can go,” Curtis Turney-Rentas of CT3Designs and the Far Rock Greek Council said. “We just didn’t provide food, sweets, and beverages, but also PPE, as well as female products. All things people need during this pandemic.”

This effort was made possible by donations of food, sweets, PPE and other items from various businesses, individuals and groups. Food donations were provided by Frontline Foods Of Queens, Cuisine By Claudette, RBQ, KinaKuisine, KeishaKitchen, TheSame24, Wilson Darko, Ashley Hewitt, Kurtis Jackson and Akelia. Donations of sweets, hot chocolate and coffee came from Chrissy Sweet Treats, CraftOfAllTrades, Adaugo Chukwu Ayanna Smith and SkeePhiNY.Donations of PPE, blankets and feminine hygiene products came from PPE4All, JanetCollection, Delta Airlines, CT3Designs, KissColors, Brianna Brunson, New York Association of Chapters of Alpha and Nu Beta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.

The Far Rock Greek Council’s work to better the community is endless. “Our work doesn’t stop here,” Turney-Rentas said. “Continue to look out for what we have in store next for the Rockaways. We are for the people, by the people.” Next up is a toy drive and pop-up shop event on December 19, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 14-25 Central Ave. For more updates, make sure to follow FarRockGreekCouncil on Instagram and Facebook.
