 Sunday’s the day! Super Bowl LV is on Sunday, February 7, and while bars and restaurants are still closed due to Covid, there are plenty of options to enjoy the game at home with some good eats from local businesses.

The big game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS. This year, last year’s champions, the Kansas City Chiefs return to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Besides the game, there will be commercials galore, though some regulars like Budweiser will be sitting this one out, a halftime performance by Grammy Award-winning artist The Weeknd, and plenty of snack breaks to enjoy those takeout goodies.

Our advertisers are offering plenty of big deals for Sunday’s big game made for parties of all sizes. Boardwalk Pizzeria (68-20 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) is running game day specials for two large plain pies or one large pie and 20 wings for $32.99. You can also order three-foot heroes. New caterer, A & S at the Harbor, has everything you can dream of with a variety of appetizer, pasta or meat trays. They also have four package choices starting with the $120 family package featuring a two-foot Italian or American hero, 25 wings, 15 rice balls or croquettes and side salads to their $310 packages featuring a two-foot chicken cutlet, roasted pepper and fresh mozzarella hero, a two-foot roast beef luger hero, half trays of wings, mac and speech, spare ribs, rice balls, potato croquettes and side salads. Sorrentino’s Market (99-20 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) has some great game day specials like the First Down Package including a three-foot Italian or American hero, plus two side salads and a pickle tray for $79.95; the Field Goal Package with a choice of three half trays of a variety of wings, Swedish meatballs, pigs in a blanket, stuffed mushrooms or fried ravioli for $159.95, or the Final Special Package which includes two three-foot heroes, a choice of wings or fries, free cole slaw and pickles and three bottles of soda for $249.95, plus many other a la carte options. Bishops Barn in Roxbury has big game trays in the lineup including baby back ribs, smoked brisket, pulled pork, marinated skirt steak, sausage and peppers, chicken francese, penne ala vodka and more. They also have some prime finger foods like smoked wings, Irish, philly cheese steak or buffalo egg rolls, sliders, mac and cheese balls, homemade guac, Swedish meatballs and more. All American Bagel & Barista (20-10 Cross Bay Blvd.) in Broad Channel is offering plenty of options like 10% off Bagel Wheels and all catering menu options, plus a special that includes a three-foot chicken cutlet hero and a half tray of pasta vodka, baked ziti or wings for $109.99 or make it a four-foot Italian or American hero with the package for $124.99. If you’re throwing a bigger party, they also have a finger foods package for up to 20 people for $249.99 or a sandwich and hot food package for up to 35 people for $349.99. If you’re in the mood for Mexican, PICO on Beach 129th has packages featuring guac, pico de gallo and queso with homemade chips, wings, tacos and more fit for parties of six to eight, to 18 to 20 people. Happy Jack’s (108-13 Rockaway Beach Drive) is offering a big game sampler for two to four people including wings, bacon cheeseburger sliders, loaded nachos and a two-foot chicken and bacon hero for $55. Batesy's will have their Super Batesy's Beach Box full of your favorite barbecue meats and sides, enough to feed eight to 10 people, for $140. Bungalow Bar has a super package to feed up to 25 people including dips, 50 wings, a choice of a three-foot hero, two main courses and two bottles of huckleberry lemonade for $450. Callie's on Beach 129th has got the beef...and chicken tenders, mac and cheese, fries, wings and pulled pork, all of which can be ordered by the tray. Call 929-343-5648 to place an order. With indoor dining still closed, options to go out are limited but some may brave the cold for outdoor dining at local restaurants. However, The Rockaway Hotel does have an option for people to book one of their bungalow suites to watch the game and enjoy a private catered dining experience that includes three hours of unlimited game day snacks like wings and sliders and an open bar at a cost of $155 per person. While we didn’t notice any other specials as we went to press, places like Jamesons, Whit’s End, Harbor Light and your favorite pizza places may also make for some great game time snack and dinner choices.
