The reopening of indoor dining on Friday is a sweet treat to kick off Valentine’s weekend, so start making those reservations for wherever your heart desires and show some love to local restaurants. However, there are some spots that will also be offering special deals and menus for Valentine’s Day weekend.

On Valentine’s Day, Thai Rock is hosting a special Valentine’s dinner for $99 per person with seatings at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The night will include live music by Dorothy Wagner. The four-course pre-fix menu includes a bottle of champagne or wine for two, a choice of one of four appetizers, including dumplings and their new golden basket wrappers; a choice of house green salad or tom yum soup; entrees including Ba-Mee Ped (roasted duck in Bangkok soup), Pad Thai Ayudthaya (with shrimp), Pickles and Friends (marinated chicken with fried potatoes and pickles) or Nuer Yang (marinated skirt steak); and finished off with a choice of dessert including chocolate lava cake, raspberry cheesecake or sorbet. Whit’s End is hosting an event for those who might find Valentine’s Day a little overrated. He’s throwing an Anti-Valentine’s Day party on Valentine’s Day featuring a live DJ, good eats and good company. To reserve a table for lunch or dinner, call 718-945-4100.
If you’re not quite ready for a night out, A&S At the Harbor catering has some lovely deals for an at-home date night with the family or your sweetheart. They have a special selection of heart-shaped goodies from lobster or cheese raviolis, prosciutto or cheese breads, rice or risotto balls and more. They also have packages featuring lobster tails, filet mignon, heart-shaped ravioli, salad or vegetables and heart shaped linzer tarts or chocolate covered strawberries for $150. Plus a $195 seafood-lovers package that includes crab cakes, baked clams, lobster tails, filet mignon, lobster ravioli, tomato mozzarella or string beans almondine, heart shaped rice balls, and desserts. Change it up with newcomer Bar Marseille in Arverne by the Sea and escape with their menu inspired by the south of France. Their Valentine’s specials include tuna belly tartare, a winter salad, seafood linguine, duck leg confit and red velvet cake. Call 310-384-5666 to reserve.
Happy Jack’s is making it all about brunch with 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. seatings on Saturday and Sunday. They’ll have a special menu with a choice of a poached eggs benedict, a traditional Irish breakfast, a breakfast sandwich special, a charbroiled sirloin burger, a basket of muffins for the table and unlimited champagne, mimosas, wine and beer for just $30 per person. Take advantage of the Last Stop’s Valentine’s menu for two, with an appetizer choice of clams or shrimp, an entrée choice of lobster, NY strip steak and lobster tail or prime rib and lobster tail, plus a piece of cake for dessert for $120. Call 718-945-6450 to reserve.
As we went to press, we didn’t notice any other Valentine’s specials, but local restaurants are ready to welcome you all with open arms for indoor dining or takeout.

Take advantage of the indoor and outdoor seating on Beach 129th Street with Jameson’s (718-474-9364), La Sorrentina (718-474-1775) or Pico (718-945-3474) or head around the corner to the Harbor Light (718-474-2202). Consider a day at The Rockaway Hotel on Beach 108th Street. They’ll be hosting one last Valentine’s Market on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so you have a chance to pick up some last-minute gifts. Then set your heart on dining. They’ll be hosting a Valentine’s weekend brunch on the Rooftop and a three-course pre-fixed dinner menu for $75 per person. At this point, pre-orders are closed for most of Rockaway’s sweet shops, but if you stop by any of them this Valentine’s Day, they may have some extra treats to pick up for your sweetie. Fat Cardinal Bakery (196 Beach 92nd Street) has come up with some festive concoctions like a bouquet of brownie pops, a chocolate heart cake for two, rose cupcakes and more. Rockaway Beach Bakery (87-10 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) is taking orders for sweet treats such as conversation heart cookies that say cute to funky messages, like “You stink,” plus a chocolate cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberries and red velvet cupcakes.
New gluten-free bakery, Raquel Confections on Beach 96th Street is accepting orders through Friday, February 12. They’re offering boxes stocked with cookies, brownies, linzer tarts, cake pops and assorted chocolates for one for $30 or for two for $50. They also have six-inch strawberry cheesecakes for $45 and red velvet cheesecakes for $55. And don’t forget about the original—Ciro’s Pastry Shop on Beach 129th for pastries and cookies galore.
If something colder is calling your heart, you can’t go wrong with ice cream, but Mara’s Ice Cream Parlor (92-14 Rockaway Beach Blvd) is in love mode, and this week they’re serving up Sweetheart Floats, a chocolate dipped strawberry shake, breakable chocolate hearts and more.
