Ready to get your Irish on?
This Sunday, March 19, the Rockaway Artists Alliance is ready to roll out their annual St. Patrick’s Irish-themed variety show.
Starting at 1 p.m., the community and family friendly show will feature music, stories, humor and more in the RAA’s T-7 Gallery at Fort Tilden.
Admission is free, though donations are always welcome.
Performing a mix of Irish songs- favorites, traditional and new, and other material, will be Sheila Cassidy, Walter Ensor, Kevin Stokes and Joe Culleton of “The Locals,” plus John Simonelli and Dan Guarino, who will also host.
We hear there may even be whiff of corned beef and cabbage, and other refreshments in the air.
“We’ve been doing this show for a few years now,” Guarino said. “We’ve been able to get some very talented performers and also some very surprise guests. Not long ago we had a woman who raised her hand and shyly asked if she could sing a song. She blew the room away!”
“More than that, people from all over the community come out and have fun at this show. As I explain to people, in Rockaway, St. Patrick’s is not a day, it’s a season!”
Visitors can also come early and enjoy RAA’s newest exhibition, Designed By Nature. The gallery is open Sunday and Saturdays from 12 to 4 p.m. This is their first showcase of the year and runs to April 19.
The Rockaway Artists Alliance invites everyone in Rockaway and Broad Channel to join in and “go green” this Sunday.
