(Re: The "Hey Piggy" sign telling peeple to pick up their trash)
Who are you?! We love your “pick up your trash” message and your brilliant marketing ploy using an airplane, and we want to get to know you and potentially collaborate.
There are many things I love about Rockaway, but two of them I really enjoy: bike riding and the boardwalk. An annoying problem has now presented its ugly head and someone is going to be seriously injured. Many of the riders using the boardwalk think that they are competing in the Tour de France and are recklessly speeding with no regard for people entering the boardwalk, or other riders leisurely rolling along. I have personally been involved in two altercations on the same day with some of these asses for doing nothing more than staying in the lane and not speeding along to their liking. Also, what in the hell gives them the right to ride two, three or more abreast in the lane? The city has installed a bike lane parallel to the boardwalk on the street. If there are those who desire to break the land speed record on a bicycle they should use that lane. The boardwalk was not meant to be a racetrack. Where is Parks' enforcement?
On Saturday I was with my family on the boardwalk between Brothers and Caracas on B. 106. My three year old was hit by a cyclist who was riding his bike. My son wasn't hurt, however he was clearly shook up and asked me why he was hit.
The cyclist did get off his bike to see if he was okay but I noticed he was riding within the area that cyclists are supposed to get off their bikes. A lot of cyclists don't respect the signs that clearly say to dismount off your bike, which is placed by the bathrooms and businesses.
A lot of people here have the same concerns and I'm afraid more people could get hurt.
Secret Garden Success
I went to Fort Tilden on 7/8 for the opening of the SECRET GARDEN ART FESTIVAL. I was amazed at the quality and professionalism of the exhibit. It could easily have been a gallery at MoMA. Kudos to curator Daria Pletneva on this vibrant show. It is open another weekend 7/15 and 16. I highly recommend everyone goes and supports this event.
