The Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica, Inc. (NHSJ) is a not-for-profit housing counseling agency located in Southeast Queens since 1974. The NHSJ is hosting a free workshop for residents who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Workshop participants will learn about resources that can help them with their recovery plans and to address unmet needs. Residents will receive information about programs that provide affordable home repair loans and grants, foreclosure prevention services, financial counseling and relocation assistance and employment assistance
NHSJ is committed to preserving and revitalizing neighborhoods offering home ownership education, counseling, financial and technical assistance to low and middle income residents. NHSJ provides affordable housing and awareness of available resources for residents to upgrade and preserve their properties to improve the quality of community life.
In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, NHSJ began providing disaster and storm recovery case management services for families affected. Since 2012, NHSJ has provided disaster case management assistance to over 300 families residing in the Rockaway community.
