Royals Rally, Giants Stand Tall In RLL Minor Boys

Rockaway Little League lost several games to weather and communions last week but there was plenty of action in the Minor Boys division.

On Sunday, the L. Mahoney Real Estate Royals rallied from an 8-2 deficit to tie the Shannon Florist Rockies 8-8.  The Mahoney team scored three in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth. The game ended after five innings due to time restrictions. Dan Esposito led the balanced attack with two singles, three stolen bases and two runs scored.  Logan Monahan doubled in two runs. Ryan Wiley did not get a hit…but he walked in all three at-bats and stole two bases. Monahan pitched three innings, allowing two runs while striking out seven. Connor McElhinney whiffed two in his lone inning of work.

Meanwhile, the Wave Giants rebounded from their only loss of the season to top the Slices and Ices Orioles 19-7. The Giants were led on the mound by pitchers Aidan Leary and Ryan Gallagher. The offense was supplied by Nick Taylor, Anthony Farina, Luke Wasserman, Jack Leary, Joey Butler, Christian Cook and Daniel Degrechie. Fantastic defense was supplied by Hayden Malsy and Dermot Laffler, with an inning-ending catch by Anthony in centerfield.

The Junior Boys team, sponsored by Metalman Sales, played a doubleheader against the visiting SFX Huskies last weekend.
