The Rockaway Artists Alliance supports all platforms of creativity. This weekend, they’ll be showcasing fun family films
As part of the RAA’s commitment to providing cultural events on the peninsula, the 2017 Rockaway Artists Alliance Film Festival is taking place on the beach in Riis Park this weekend.
The event kicks off on Thursday, July 13, with a showing of the recent family-friendly animated film, Finding Dory, rated PG. On Saturday, July 15, an older family-friendly film, School of Rock, rated PG-13, will be shown. Both movies are preceded by a DJ set and games starting at 7 p.m., and the movies start at 8 p.m. The movies will be shown on an inflatable screen on the beach by Bay 9, or Riis Park Beach Bazaar. People are welcome to bring chairs or towels. There will be food available to purchase at the Beach Café.
Presented by the Bloomberg Philanthropies in collaboration with Central Park
Conservancy, National Park Service, Jamaica Bay - Rockaway Parks Conservancy, with support from The Tides and In Good Company, this is a free event. All of the movies are open-captioned and the event is subject to cancellation due to weather.
Last year’s Film Festival featured films better suited for adults, like West Side Story and Almost Famous, but with kids’ films being the main features this year, the event will be great for the whole family.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
