Looking to buy handcrafted, novelty items from Rockaway’s unique eclectic mix of artists and artisans? Seize the opportunity at the Rockaway Beach Civic Association’s (RBCA) first annual, Rockaway Live and Local shopping extravaganza this Saturday, August 5 at Beach 94th’s boardwalk entrance plaza from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
According to RBCA president, John Cori, this will be a jubilant day of marketing, exhibition and performance from Rockaway’s finest craftsmen and craftswomen.
“We wanted to give local creative minds, who may have had experienced difficulty with obtaining boardwalk vending permits from the Parks Department, an inexpensive venue to sell their goods on the boardwalk.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for local vendors to showcase their beautiful artistry with both local residents and the droves of people visiting Rockaway Beach. The vitality of the crowds will boost these vendors presence, not just in Rockaway, but citywide,” Cori said.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., entertainers Lorena Leigh, Annalisa Chamberlin and Zach Ruland take the stage to get the crowd rockin.’
Cori says that the RBCA plans to continue this event every year, and possibly do multiple events a year. “It’s all about community and supporting each other,” he said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
