Rustwoods’ grand opening on Saturday, August 19 was anything but rusty, as according to co-proprietor, Mikal Jessie Hameed, it was packed beyond expectations. “We planned to do a ribbon-cutting at 6 p.m., but folks came pouring in from everywhere, so we just decided to welcome everyone in and mow ahead with the celebrations!” Hameed said. The crowd’s senses were electrically transformed with the overall laid-back, but eclectically vibrant vibe — with live music by Rockaway’s jazz maestro, Mike Severino — renowned artist, Geoff Rawling flowing the spirit of the music through his live paintings — and unforgettable Peruvian cuisine from The Kitchen (formerly Chicks To Go), which customized a menu just for Rustwoods. Who could resist an appetite-provoking Rustwood Cheeseburger with turkey bacon, mozzarella cheese served with French fries, arugula and tomato salad, and an optional side of yuca and a piece of flan? There is more to come this Friday, August 25, at 6 p.m. as Hameed will be celebrating his birthday. “Everyone is welcome to come celebrate and bask again and again, in the Rustwoods experience,” Hameed said.” Rustwoods also welcomes local artisans to sell in their General Store, open every day 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information, email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
