Whether you’ve got your buffalo wings and you’re ready to watch the 52nd installment of seeing the best teams go head to head in one of America’s favorite pastimes, or you’re taking a stand and boycotting due to political statements, or because you’d rather see anyone play but the Philadelphia Eagles or once again, the New England Patriots, the big game is this Sunday, February 4. And there’s plenty going on to celebrate around town.
The big game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBC. The Eagles will be taking on the Patriots. For those who aren’t interested in much but the commercials and halftime show, this year’s performer is Justin Timberlake.
Want to get out for the day? Plenty of local bars and restaurants are holding specials during the game. In Breezy Point, the BayHouse will have a $30 open bar and buffet special, plus fun giveaways during the game. In Roxbury, the AOH’s Hibernian will have the game on 80-foot and 60-foot screens while serving up $2 beers, bucket specials, shot specials and a free buffet. In Rockaway, head to The Wharf for a $30 open bar special for domestic beers and well drinks, plus a $5 food menu all night for your pub favorites like sliders, wings, mozzarella sticks and more. Jameson’s Pub will be running their typical football Sunday special of half-priced drinks and appetizers during the game. For $50 per person, Community House will have a buffet of pulled pork sliders, mac and cheese balls and wings, plus an open bar of well liquor, house wine and beer from kick-off until the end of the game.
This year, in response to the early-season controversy of football players kneeling during the National Anthem, the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (BHYC) is taking a stand. They’re hosting a “Please Stand” party in honor of veterans. Game pools are in play, and food and drinks will be served. The game will also be on, but those at the BHYC say it won’t be as “super” this year. “Watch commercials and notice the products we'll avoid this year! Support our Veterans,” a party invite reads.
Just want to watch the game over a few drinks? Consider stopping by local favorites like Rogers, Kerry Hills, Brendan’s Bar, Healy’s Pub or others to have a few and catch the game on TV.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
