Normally this page would be full of events and happenings around town. With Coronavirus causing most, if not all events and meetings to be canceled, we can only list a limited number of events that are virtual or with social distancing in mind.


Clean Up!

The Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, Surfrider and NYC Parks are hosting a beach clean up on Sunday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet on the boardwalk on Beach 26th Street. Social distancing will be in effect and masks and sanitizer will be available. Gloves, bags and tools provided. For more info or to RSVP, head to 


Go Paddle!

The Community Boathouse is back! Kayaking programs are now taking place at Bay Breeze Park on Beach 88th Street and the bay. Open paddles are now taking place every Saturday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunset paddles take place on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to walk up, sign up and spend some time exploring Jamaica Bay by kayak. Start Dancing!

Beach Sessions is back, but this time they’re going virtual due to coronavirus. This time they’re hosting Tik Tok Challenges. New York choreographers are creating dance challenges that people can do at home and post to social media. All challengesare on Beach Sessions’ TikTok profile (@beachsessionsdanceseries), Instagram (@beachsessions_rockaway) and website. If posting videos for the challenge, use hashtags: @(artist tiktok), #beachsessions2020, #dancechallenge

Food Help for Seniors/Disabled

Are you a senior or disabled person who lives between Beach 149th and Beach 96th Street and unable to

Beach Yoga

Kevin "Soupy" Campbell is back with yoga on the beach. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, join him on Beach 104th at 8:30 a.m. to get your Om on.
