Softball Tournament

Queens Defenders and the NYPD’s 101st Precinct are hosting a softball tournament on Friday, August 14 at 3 p.m. at O’Donohue Park on Beach 17th Street. Masks required. All equipment will be sanitized. For more info call 718-261-3047 ext.618.

 

Clean Up!

The Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, Surfrider and NYC Parks are hosting a beach clean up on Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet on the boardwalk on Beach 109th Street. Softball Game

In memory of the late inspector Lenz, the 101st Precinct, Rockaway Nassau Safety Patrol and Hatzalah will be playing softball on Sunday, August 16 at 12:30 p.m. in Bayswater Park on Bay 32nd Street. The Lenz family will be in attendance. Rain date: 8/23.

 

Go Paddle!

The Community Boathouse is back! Kayaking programs are now taking place at Bay Breeze Park on Beach 88th Street and the bay. Open paddles take place every Saturday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunset paddles take place on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to walk up, sign up and spend some time exploring Jamaica Bay. Kayaks and lifejackets provided. Social distancing and masks required when in groups. Follow the Community Boathouse Rockaway Beach on Facebook for more info.

Zumba Under the Stars

Zumba with Lisa G is back at the Beach 108th Hockey Rink on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Due to social distancing, maximum allowance is 50 people, so allowance is first come first served. Bring a mask and enjoy dancing the night away.

 

Paddle Out for
Breonna Taylor

Black Surfing Rockaway will hold its next paddle out on Saturday, August 22 at 9 a.m. on Beach 73rd Street. This paddle out will continue 13 blocks to Beach 86th Street in honor of Breonna Taylor who was killed on March 13.

Paddle Out

On Saturday, August 22 at 10 a.m. on Beach 108th Street, there will be a paddle out in support of the NYPD, FDNY and DSNY.

 

Food Help for Seniors/Disabled

Are you a senior or disabled person who lives between Beach 149th and Beach 96th Street and unable to get food during the pandemic? Contact Lew Simon or Jeanette M. Garramone for help at 718-945-1216. If you are able to donate any canned goods or food items to this cause, you can also reach out.

 

Beach Yoga

Kevin "Soupy" Campbell is back with yoga on the beach. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, join him on Beach 104th at 8:30 a.m. to get your Om on.
