Census Rally & Resource Fair
On Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Parking Lot (Beach 20th and Plainview Ave), Senator Sanders is hosting a 2020 Census sign up, resources for new moms, voter registration, a food giveaway, school supply giveaway and mask and hand sanitizer giveaway. Please wear a mask and bring a reusable bag.
Not Poseidon’s Parade
Poseidon Parade, Rockaway’s annual nautical art parade will not take place due to coronavirus this year. A couple costumed folks will not gather on Saturday, September 26 at noon starting at Beach 106th Street. Whalemina will not be there. You didn't hear this from us.
Rockaway Oyster Fest
The 6th Annual Rockaway Oyster Fest will take place on Saturday, September 26 at RBQ on Beach 98th Street. Social distancing will be in effect, so tickets are limited. Jamaica Bay Monarch Festival
A virtual celebration of butterflies, bees, and everything that pollinates! On Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., New York City Audubon is hosting a virtual festival celebrating monarch butterflies and other pollinators like moths, bees, and birds! Enjoy presentations with experts Don Riepe, Steve Walter, Sarah Kornbluth, and Tod Winston. You can even catch a pollinator puppet show! Live Music at Whits
Enjoy dinner and a show this weekend at Whit’s End on Beach 97th Street. On Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m., the Family Band takes the stage in the backyard space. On Saturday at 7 p.m., Big Squid will perform for the night.
100th Precinct Community Council
On Saturday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., RISE will be distributing prepacked totes with free daffodil bulbs, trowels and gloves for any Rockaway community members or individuals interested in planting bulbs at their home, schools', businesses' or neighborhood blocks. First come, first served. RISE is located at 58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.
On Sunday, October 11, the Rockaway half and whole marathon will take place. The runs will take place starting at 8 a.m. on the Beach 116th Street boardwalk. For details and to register, head to www.Rockapulcorun.com
