Rockaway Beach Civic Association Meeting

Respect Jamaica Bay Cleanup

Join JBRPC for a cleanup of Rockaway Community Park (between Beach 51st and 58th on the bay) on Saturday, November 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Help remove marine debris from the shoreline as part of the Respect Rockaway movement.

 

100th PCT Food Drive

The 100th Precinct Community Council will be outside of both Rockaway Stop and Shops from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. to collect unexpired nonperishable food items and gift cards to be donated to local food pantries.

 

HUM IV Holiday Food Giveaway

On Saturday, November 14 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Humanities IV and other local organizations are hosting a grocery giveaway at 100-00 Beach Channel Drive.

 

Thanksgiving Drive

District Leaders Lew Simon and Jeanette Garramone are holding a Stop & Shop gift card drive to purchase up to 300 hams and turkeys to donate to seniors, the disabled and vulnerable families for Thanksgiving. Stop & Shop gift cards of any amount welcome through November 19. For more info, call 718-945-1216.

 

Community Board 14

100th Precinct Community Council Meeting

Coats and Cans Giveaway

On Friday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Queens Defenders will have canned good, coats and other clothing for those in need. Head to the Rockaway Community Justice Center at 1922 Mott Ave. If you’d like to make a food/coat donation, they can be dropped off at the Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays or 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

Thanksgiving Half Marathon

Rockapulco Run’s next event will be the half marathon on Saturday, November 21. The event starts at 10 a.m. on the boardwalk at Beach 102nd Street. To register, head to rockapulcorun.com

 

Rockaway Thanksgiving Feast

RISE is hosting a special Thanksgiving meal, free to all on Saturday, November 21, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the RISE Center (5803 Rockaway Beach Blvd). The meal will include Thanksgiving favorites prepared by Cuisine by Claudettes, Goody’s, La Cevicheria, Rockaway Beach Bakery and Rockaway Food Initiative at the Rockaway Brewing Company. All guests must register in advance at www.riserockaway.org/rise/events/
