Normally this page would be full of events and happenings around town. With Coronavirus causing most, if not all events and meetings to be canceled, we can only list a limited number of events that are virtual or with social distancing in mind.

 

Coats and Cans Giveaway

On Friday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Queens Defenders will have canned good, coats and other clothing for those in need. Head to the Rockaway Community Justice Center at 1922 Mott Ave. If you’d like to make a food/coat donation, they can be dropped off at the Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays or 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

Thanksgiving Half Marathon

Rockapulco Run’s next event will be the half marathon on Saturday, November 21. The event starts at 10 a.m. on the boardwalk at Beach 102nd Street. To register, head to www.rockapulcorun.com 

 

Seals, Shorebirds, and Waterfowl - Oh My!

Don Riepe of the Littoral Society is hosting a  virtual zoom program on Winter Waterfowl on Saturday, November 21, starting at 10 a.m. Guests can 'see' many of these species as well as learn about their behavior, biology, and where to find them in and around Jamaica Bay. Rockaway Thanksgiving Feast

RISE is hosting a special Thanksgiving meal, free to all on Saturday, November 21, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the RISE Center (5803 Rockaway Beach Blvd). The meal will include Thanksgiving favorites prepared by Cuisine by Claudettes, Goody’s, La Cevicheria, Rockaway Beach Bakery and Rockaway Food Initiative at the Rockaway Brewing Company. Live Music at Whits

Big Squid will be celebrating as we near the 2020 finale on Saturday, November 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the backyard of Whit’s End on Beach 97th Street.

 

Live Music at RBQ

Enjoy the warm weather this weekend as Solshyne plays in the RBQ backyard (Beach 98th Street) on Saturday, November 21 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Then, enjoy a Sunday Funday on Sunday, November 22, with “Brunch With Sue.” Local band Wine With Sue will be rocking out in the backyard from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Get there early to grab a table. Mask up when not seated.

 

Operation Feast Thanksgiving

The Far Rockaway Greek Council will be hosting a Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 26 starting at 12 p.m. at 10-40 21st Street in Far Rockaway.
