Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway

House on the Rock Church (112-08 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) will be giving away 300 individual meals to those in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feel free to stop by for a to-go meal.

 

Operation Feast Thanksgiving

The Far Rockaway Greek Council will be hosting a Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday, November 26 starting at 12 p.m. at 10-40 21st Street in Far Rockaway. Brant Point Cleanup

The Brant Point Alliance is hosting a cleanup of the wildlife sanctuary shoreline at Beach 72nd and Bayfield Avenue in Arverne on Friday. November 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Gloves, bags and grabbers will be provided.

Resiliency in Rockaway Series

On Friday, December 4, join RISE in this exciting virtual Living Classroom series called Resiliency in Rockaway! In this three-week long after-school program, tailored to middle schoolers, you will hear from knowledgeable, Rockaway educators about the topics of climate change, marine science, and the importance of filter feeders. This is a great opportunity for you to collaborate with students across the peninsula on fun activities and learn how the unique ecosystems that make up the community are adapting to our changing world. My Turn Program for Seniors

New Yorkers 60 and older are eligible to audit credit classes free (on space availability) at Kingsborough Community College (on Zoom through Covid). More than 400 Courses in art, music, history, computers, health education, literature and many other categories, take courses with college students, facilities including library, gym, pool, tennis courts and private beach, $80.00 registration fee, no tuition, fall and spring classes are 12 weeks/winter and summer 6 weeks. Zoom Guest Speaker Series

Offered free for participants 50+ years of age. This series is scheduled on Wednesdays from 3:15-4 p.m. Each week a variety of topics will be discussed by a Professional Guest Speaker. Topics range from health, travel, insurance, Finances, nutrition, exercise, authors and much more.
