Santa Comes to the Little North Pole

The Little North Pole (144-03 Neponsit Ave) is hosting a drive-by event on Saturday, December 12 at 5 p.m. Santa Claus will be on site with goodies for the kids who pass by. Cars can line up from Beach 145th to Beach 149th on Neponsit Ave. For more info, check out thelittlenorthpole on Instagram.


Rockaway Beach Drive Tree Lighting

On Saturday, December 12 at 4:30 p.m., head to Happy Jacks ( 108-13 Rockaway Beach Drive.) for a tree lighting featuring Santa Claus, free holiday cookies and hot cocoa, Christmas music and more. Please wear a mask!


Blood Drive

On Sunday, December 13, Blessed Trinity Parish (204-25 Rockaway Point Blvd.) in Breezy Point is hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in memory of Erin Kuffner. Those interested in donating must make an appointment by calling 516-478-5023.


Toy Drive

The Anna O’Connor Annual Ronald McDonald House Toy Drive is on! Donations of unwrapped toys for kids of all ages are being collected through December 12. Drop off to Debbie O’Connor at 35 W. 10th in Broad Channel or Beth Hanning at 119-11 Newport Ave. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. Santa Car Parade

Santa Claus is coming to town! On Sunday, December 13 at 4 p.m., Santa will be joining Rockaway WISH for a car parade starting at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club on Beach 126th. He will head down Beach 129th to Beach 149th, then down RBB to Beach 108th, turn on to Shore Front and continue to Beach 72nd Street. All are welcome to come out and say hello to Santa as he passes by.

Resiliency in Rockaway Series

On Friday through December 18, join RISE in this exciting virtual Living Classroom series called Resiliency in Rockaway! In this three-week long after-school program, tailored to middle schoolers, you will hear from knowledgeable, Rockaway educators about the topics of climate change, marine science, and the importance of filter feeders. This is a great opportunity for you to collaborate with students across the peninsula on fun activities and learn how the unique ecosystems that make up the community are adapting to our changing world. My Turn Program for Seniors

New Yorkers 60 and older are eligible to audit credit classes free (on space availability) at Kingsborough Community College (on Zoom during Covid). More than 400 Courses in art, music, history, computers, health education, literature and many other categories, take courses with college students, facilities including library, gym, pool, tennis courts and private beach, $80.00 registration fee, no tuition, fall and spring classes are 12 weeks/winter and summer 6 weeks.
