It was a great night for a Night Out with the 100th Precinct. On Tuesday, August 4, the community gathered in the parking lot of Beach 94th Street to enjoy a fun event hosted by the 100th Precinct Community Council.
The police and community relations-building event included resources and demonstrations from local community organizations and law enforcement groups, food, bouncy rides, music, and performances by the Millenium Development Group’s Channel View and Waterside School dance teams, as well as a karate demonstration by Warren Levi Championship Martial Arts.
Throughout the night, several well-deserved awards were also distributed. From the 100th Precinct Community Council, awards were given to Serenity Screen for Explorer of the Year, Officer Michael Almeyda for the Jonathan Diller Cop of the Year Award, Officers Miguel Cortez and Daniel Farrel for Q Team of the Year, and Officers Ryan Brady and Danielle Bryan for Sector of the Year. A plaque was also given to longtime crossing guard Mary Ellen Murray for her retirement after nearly 50 years.
The 100th Precinct itself also handed out a few awards in return to 100th Precinct Community Council members and community helpers, Maureen McGee, Ozzie Edwards, Rosemary Duggan and Council President Liz Geraghty. 100th Precinct Captain Sachi Singh also received a Proclamation from the NYC Mayor’s Office.
