The 13th Annual Clare Droesch 3 on 3 by the Sea will be Friday, August 28 at the St. Francis de Sales Schoolyard on Beach 129th Steet. More than 100 teams in boys and girls divisions ranging from second grade to the new Co-Ed Open division are expected to compete and honor the memory and legacy of Rockaway basketball legend Clare Droesch, and her courageous battle against breast cancer. Games will begin at 10 a.m. and continue through the afternoon. DJ Poppa D will provide the soundtrack for the afternoon.
Apparel will be available for purchase along with 50/50 and special raffle tickets. Proceeds go to the Clare Droesch Foundation administered by the Graybeards, supporting scholarships at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy, Christ the King High School, and Boston College, as well as support to families in need. A post-event party will take place in the evening at Callie’s.
Registration begins this Monday in the St. Francis de Sales Schoolyard and the deadline to register is August 14. Teams must have at least three players and a maximum of four and will be entered in the age group of their oldest player. Please see ad in this week’s paper for more info.
