Creating a theme, story, focus or sequence in a yoga class is a beautiful way to display who you are and tell your story. You will also reach people who may relate to your theme and feel comfort in knowing they are not alone. We often get stuck in our old ways or habits and forget how powerful we can become when we let things flow organically. My experience is limited and I have lots of room for growth but I am beginning to have the self-esteem and knowledge to know we all have the power to help one another heal and feel really good about ourselves. It has taken me a lifetime to know who I am and truly believe in the Creator of all.  When you wake up feeling blessed there is no space for doubt or negativity. A grateful heart creates a happy life of contentment.

Acceptance is the ability to be in a place where you can abide with the ups and downs of life. If we constantly ask but why me, we will have feelings of discomfort. There is a place you can go and sit quietly, with eyes closed, listening to the divine source. Don’t search but rather be exactly where you are. This practice is non-negotiable to help you get in touch with the profound teachings of your inner Source. It has been the guide all along and we can follow this enlightened path when we are ready.

You can play out all the old stories in your head or you could begin to move on. Letting go of the past and allowing good things to come your way, is the path. And so, we begin again and again. Starting fresh with new ideas. Allowing good energy to flow in and saying Yes to all the possibilities that can arise when you crack open new ways of living your life. You have this one life to live, maybe there is life after but for now we are here with this life. May you choose to live with an open, loving heart.

Forgiveness is a focus I may bring into class for the benefit of the student who cannot let go of the past. In my experience it is one of the most difficult things for one to be able to truly forgive in their heart and not hold a grudge. As we know, when we forgive, we give ourselves permission to be free of suffering. We find compassion from a place within that promotes healing. The Metta meditation sends compassion to all beings to be happy, healthy and free from suffering. If you hold on to harmful judgements, it will block free flowing energy. I was blessed to witness forgiveness from my parents. Forgive and you will always find ease.

“There is a place in the heart where everything meets. Go there if you want to find me. Mind, senses, soul, eternity, all are there. Are you there? Enter the bowl of vastness that is the heart. Give yourself to it with total abandon, listen to the song that is always resonating there. Quiet ecstasy is there- and a steady, regal sense of resting in a perfect spot. Once you know the way the nature of attention will call you to return, again and again, and be saturated with know, “I belong here, I am at home here.” From sutra 26 of The Radiance Sutras.
