The Full Moon
What a vision all week of the Moon waxing to its fullest. As I sat out every night basking in its light I thought about the passage of time and how before you know it, I will be out looking for the next full Moon. The word “bask” is usually used in relation to the sun’s warmth and light; the Moon’s light is just as warming, maybe not on the skin but definitely to the Heart.
How is the Moon’s light warming to the heart? Did you ever stand on the beach under the light of the Full Moon and in direct line with its brilliant illumination on the ocean? You can trace the light energy from the Moon to the Ocean to your Heart. A connection to a powerful and balancing force. It is like that even if we don’t see the light streaming to our Hearts.
I have been paying more attention to the Sun and the Moon lately and how the light of each changes week after week as it comes through different windows in my home. How everything is perfectly moving and changing together synchronistically it seems is amazing to me. Being more in tune with nature is something I’m bringing more into focus these days. And so the full moon last week had a special significance.
Everything is energy. It is science. The Moon’s cycles produce different energies.
We are far from living by the Moon cycles or depending on the Moon cycles for successful crops, but we can contemplate our state of being on a rolling cycle always being in touch with how we’re doing physically, mentally and emotionally. The Moon controls the tides of the ocean. And we are 60% water. So there is a possibility that the Moon affects us. Simply, the New Moon is a time to declare what we want to attract. The Full Moon is a time to declare what we want to let go. All of the other phases are means to these ends.
New Moon – Name what we want to manifest
Waxing Crescent Moon – Meditate on the intentions set during the New Moon
First Quarter – Take first action with non-resistance
Waxing Gibbous Moon – Look inward
Full Moon – Release
Waning Gibbous Moon – Revisit intentions/Express gratitude
Last Quarter Moon – Spring cleaning and Cutting cords
Waning Crescent Moon – Be still and at peace. Rest, focus and reflect

Setting intentions or creating paths to change on a regular basis could really be a purposeful meaningful practice. Tying them to the cycles of the Moon could harmonize the two energies: the energy of the intentions and the energy of the atmosphere. We know from experience that energy follows intention – no question about it. And how we declare the intentions deserves some thoughtful attention. It forces us to really examine and be clear about what would make us be the best possible lights in this world.
May you be happy. May you be free. May you be grateful. May you be compassionate. May you let go of things that do not serve you. May you have inner peace.
