Rockaway Market Street

On Saturday, September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head under the elevated A train track at Beach 60th for an outdoor market including vendors such as: Blacksmith’s Breads, Edgemere Farm, Horman’s Best Pickles, Mushroom Queens, Rockaway Soda, Saratoga Peanut Butter Company, and more! Live music.


International Coastal Cleanup

On Saturday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 59th and the boardwalk to join RISE for the annual International Coastal Cleanup in partnership with the American Littoral Society. All ages encouraged. All trash collected will be entered into the national database, which goes to help establish legislation to reduce trash along our shores. Students can receive community service hours for their efforts.


Poseidon’s Parade

On Saturday, September 17 at noon, put on your nautical best and head to the boardwalk at Beach 106th to watch or participate in this end of summer art parade. Parade continues to Beach 97th concessions, where the after party will be.


Rockaway Film Festival

From Saturday, September 17 through Sunday, September 25, head to the Arverne Cinema (72-02 Gouvernuer Ave) at 6:30 p.m. each night for film screenings, musical performances and more, $10 tickets. For full lineup and more info, see: www.rockawayfilmfestival.org


Richie Allen Surf Classic

On Sunday, September 18 on Beach 91st Street, the late firefighter Richie Allen will be remembered with a day of surf kids contests and more. There will be music, food, giveaways, paddleboarding, boogie boarding, a memorial paddle out and surf contests for boys and girls up to age 16. Sign up at 8 a.m. Contests start at 9 a.m.


Meditative Nature Walk

On Sunday, September 18 at 2:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a park ranger for a relaxing meditative stroll where you can watch the clouds, listen to the wind, and throw your troubles away to the sky.  Call (718) 318-4340 to make a reservation.


Wildflower Wednesdays

On Wednesday, September 21 at 3 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to embark on a quest to spot and welcome all the blooms that Jamaica Bay has to offer. Join us each meeting to watch the landscape change, or come and go as you like.  All ages welcome. All-weather walk.


Fall Equinox Walk

On Thursday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to take a sunset walk to welcome the autumn. Observe the changing season in an urban National Park and experience the shift for yourself. All ages are welcome. This is an all-weather walk, so please dress for the conditions. Space will be limited, so register by calling 718-318-4340. 1.5 miles.


Ryan Rudden Memorial Hockey Tournament

On Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m., head to the Beach 108th hockey rink for a day of roller hockey in memory of Ryan Rudden. Puck drop at 9 a.m. DJ music, t-shirt sales, raffles to support the Timmy Klein Foundation.


Animal Rock

On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to Beach 94th and Shore Front for Animal Rock. Join for a celebration of our relationships with animals. There will be information on ways to help animals, raffle prizes, pet adoptions, animal blessings, and more! Contact Jill@HealingWithAnimals.com to volunteer or donate.


Hatha Yoga with Soupy

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, head to Beach 102nd at 8:30 a.m. for yoga on the beach with Kevin Soupy Campbell.
