Fall Equinox Walk

On Thursday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to take a sunset walk to welcome the autumn. Observe the changing season in an urban National Park and experience the shift for yourself. All ages are welcome. This is an all-weather walk, so please dress for the conditions. Space will be limited, so register by calling 718-318-4340. 1.5 miles.


Ryan Rudden Memorial Hockey Tournament

On Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m., head to the Beach 108th hockey rink for a day of roller hockey in memory of Ryan Rudden. Puck drop at 9 a.m. DJ music, t-shirt sales, raffles to support the Timmy Klein Foundation.


Monarch/ Pollinator Festival

On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge on Cross Bay Blvd. to learn about the important ecological role pollinators (bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, etc.) play in the environment. Activities includes walks and talks by local experts and a visit to Fort Tilden to look for migrating Monarch Butterflies, dragonflies, and other insects. Free and open to the public. Kids welcome. Rockaway Market Street

On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head under the elevated A train track at Beach 60th for an outdoor market including vendors such as: Blacksmith’s Breads, Edgemere Farm, Horman’s Best Pickles, Mushroom Queens, Rockaway Soda, Saratoga Peanut Butter

Company, and more! Live music.


Animal Rock

On Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to Beach 94th and Shore Front for Animal Rock. Join for a celebration of our relationships with animals. There will be information on ways to help animals, raffle prizes, pet adoptions, animal blessings, and more! Contact Jill@HealingWithAnimals.com  to volunteer or donate.


Bird Watching Tour Fundraiser

On Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m., head to the RISE Center (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd) for a bird-watching tour with birder, naturalist, and RISE Youth Development Program Manager Russell Jacobs. Expect to see migrating shorebirds, seabirds, and songbirds making their way toward their winter habitats! RISE will provide binoculars, but feel free to bring your own scoping equipment and cameras. You will receive A Field Guide and Handbook on the Rockaways as a keepsake. All proceeds benefit RISE. Enjoy light refreshments after. Register at: www.riserockaway.org/rise/events/


Bike With a Ranger

On Sunday, September 25, at 10 a.m., bring your bike and join Ranger Kevin and Ranger John on an adventurous ride from Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to the hidden gem that is Sunset Cove Park. The meet up will be at the front of the Visitor Center in the parking lot. We will ride to Sunset Cove Park and walk to the shore, proceeded by a brief walk around the marsh trail loop.   Please bring your bike, helmet, comfy, light clothing, sunscreen and water bottle. Sports Card Trade Night

On Wednesday, September 28 between 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., head to Tap That (111-04 RBB) to trade/ buy/sell sports cards of any value.


Hatha Yoga with Soupy

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, head to Beach 102nd at 8:30 a.m. for yoga on the beach with Kevin Soupy Campbell.
