A Day to Remember Richie
The Richie Allen Memorial Surf Classic was another one to remember. On Sunday, September 18, surfers of all ages, friends, neighbors and family of the late Firefighter Richie Allen came down to Richie’s beach, Beach 91st to enjoy a day of celebrating Richie Allen’s favorite activity—surfing.
It was a day that showed that even 21 years after he died on 9/11, Richie Allen will not be forgotten. Every year, the Allen family hosts a kids’ surf contest in Richie’s memory, as part of a great day on the beach full of music, waves, memories and a memorial paddle out at the end of it all. Congratulations to the Allen family for pulling off another successful event and to all of the groms on their wins on the waves.
