Well as of today, Tuesday, August 25, we had a big school of bunker out front. This happens when it gets cool at night. In the morning, it gets the bait moving around. There was a whale feeding, as well a pod of dolphins.
We have small bluefish around and fluke are here; some good size now. Use gulp lures. White/green works best. Start throwing some Super Strike Poppers and SP Minnows. Soon the sand eels will come, which brings a change in fishing.
Be ready with your gear when you head to the beach. Remember, before first light is best time to get out. As fall approaches, look for nervous surface water, that means bait are being pushed by bigger fish.
As September approaches, I use this setup with a Z belt, plug tube, pouch, pliers, sheath and grippers for fish. I use lures like Poppers, SP Minnows, tins, plastic shads, needles, swimmers and pencil poppers. Bring extra leaders and a bunker snagger. My setup changes monthly.
