Former New York City Councilman Bob Holden has officially endorsed Colonel (Ret.) Thomas P. Sullivan for the New York State Assembly in District 23.
Holden, a longtime Democrat, announced his endorsement of Sullivan, citing his military service and his belief that Albany needs a different approach to leadership. Holden stated, “Tom Sullivan answered the call by serving our country in the Armed Forces, and now he’s answering the call again by running for the State Assembly. We need a leader with common sense who will push back against the insanity in Albany and bring back a state legislature that serves New Yorkers, not special interests. This is why I’m proud to cross party lines and endorse Tom Sullivan.”
Sullivan appreciates Holden’s support. “Thank you Councilman Holden for your endorsement and trust in me,” he said. Sullivan also spoke highly of Holden’s approach to public service, saying, “I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Councilman’s approach to politics.” He pointed to Holden’s record of working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle during his time on the City Council, adding, “That’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Albany, and I intend to bring that same spirit of collaboration with me.”
Holden is a former New York City Council Member who represented Queens’ 30th District from 2018 to 2025. A lifelong Queens resident and longtime community leader, Holden previously served as president of the Juniper Park Civic Association for 25 years and on Queens Community Board 5 for nearly three decades.
Sullivan is a small business owner, financial services professional, and 30-year U.S. Army Reserve Veteran with leadership experience in business, the military, and his community. Sullivan comes from generations of civil servants, including the United States Secret Service, NYPD, FDNY, and the United States Army.
