Democratic voters have re-elected Jeanette Garramone and elected Jonathan Lazo without opposition to serve as Assembly District Leaders for Assembly District 23 Part B, reflecting the community’s confidence in their commitment to civic engagement, grassroots organizing and local leadership.
Although neither Garramone nor Lazo appeared on the ballot, both successfully petitioned onto the ballot and ran an active campaign, knocking on doors, attending community events, and meeting directly with residents to share their vision for the future of the Democratic Party in Southern Queens.
“We are incredibly grateful for the trust our community has placed in us,” Garramone and Lazo said in a joint statement. “We believe leadership begins by showing up, listening more than we speak, and working alongside our neighbors and local organizations. We look forward to continuing to serve with integrity, accessibility, and a commitment to delivering results.”
As Assembly District Leaders, Garramone and Lazo pledged to strengthen Democratic organizing across the district, engage more residents in the political process, and continue building a party that is active year-round, not just during election season. They also encourage all registered Democrats to become involved by attending the next meeting of the Lew M. Simon Regular Democratic Club, which will be held on Thursday, July 16, 7 p.m. at Rogers Pub on Beach 116th Street. The club welcomes Democrats from across the community who are interested in getting involved, meeting their local elected officials and Democratic leaders, and helping shape the future of the neighborhood.
