On Wednesday, June 24, the Rockaway Graybeards hosted a Veterans Breakfast at the Belle Harbor Yacht Club. The event was held as a thank you for their service and to provide valuable information regarding benefits.
Robert Hickey of The Graybeards organized the event, inviting local veterans to join for a meal and Graybeard and VFW member Travis Baretto delivered remarks. Sponsored by Councilwoman Joann Ariola, who was also in attendance, VFW Veterans Service Officer, Ryan Graham, was on hand to assist our nation’s heroes with filing for benefits and answer any questions.
“VFW Post 8540 was honored to take part in this Veterans Breakfast, and I want to thank the Rockaway Graybeards for putting this together and for the tremendous work they do for our veterans and for the entire Rockaway community,” Tom Sullivan, Post Commander of VFW Post 8540 said.
“Speaking to the many veterans in attendance on the support the VFW provides by navigating the VA benefits system, led to 10 veterans and caregivers seeking guidance and support on VA benefits and other local and state benefits support,” Graham said.
